Tools You’ll Need
Program Tools
You will need the following items for your program.
If you don’t have these on hand already, be sure to pick them up prior to your start date.
MPFIT App
You should have already received an email with a link to download the MPFIT App on your phone. This app is free to you and is the digital hub for all things nutrition and fitness related to your program. Here you will find your macros and healthy habits, complete your Weekly Progress Check-Ins, chart your successes, and communicate with your coach. This app will be our dashboard for us both to see everything about your program in real time.
Further below we’ll cover MPFit App setup.
MyFitnessPal(MFP)
MFP is the best food diary app on the market and it connects right to our MPFit App, so we can have all of your program data in one place.
MFP has both a free version and a premium paid version. The free version is perfectly fine, however the premium version does have some great time saving features.
Both the free and premium versions are also accessible via your laptop or desktop, which is a gamechanger for planning your weekly menu in advance. You’re able to upload your favorite recipes and build a recipe box for your go to favorites so as the weeks go by, you can drag and drop your meals across the days rather than typing every single line item every single day. Life Changing!
Just like any other app, the more you use it, the easier it gets.
If you’ve never used MyFitnessPal before, download it now and input your custom macros goals from your MPFit App Dashboard. (If you haven’t received your goals yet, don’t worry, your coach will send them soon!)
IMPORTANT: Make sure to unlink your steps/exercise in the MyFitnessPal app.
Linking your steps/exercise in MFP will skew your numbers.
You may be asking yourself: how am I supposed to hit these numbers?
We suggest you start by logging a normal day of food first.
Once thats in, look at how far off you are from your daily macro goals.
What can you adjust to get close?
Remember you have a whole week to practice. Make small tweaks.
Further below we’ll cover MFP setup and integration to MPFIT app.
Food Scale
You’ll need a food scale for your kitchen. Our recommendation is a simple digital scale like the one linked here. Measuring with your food scale will ensure you are logging the correct portions of your food.
Bodyweight Scale
Your daily weight will be one of the many data points to indicate progress.
Be sure to weigh yourself on the same scale, at the same time, every day
We recommend first thing in the morning, right after you go to the bathroom.
NOTE: if you prefer not to use a scale, just let us know.
Measuring Tape
Your body measurements will be another key data point to track progress. We recommend buying a soft fabric measurer like the one linked here. Be sure to measure yourself at the same time each week and in the exact same spot.
In the Weekly Progress Check-Ins of your onboarding, you’ll find measuring details and images to guide you through how to measure and at which spots on your body.
Meal Prep Containers
Preparing meals ahead of time helps you stick to your macros.
We recommend investing in stackable meal prep containers to cover 5 to 7 full days of meals.
We’ve linked 20 and 50 container pack options for you here.
This may seem like a lot of containers if you’re new to meal prepping, but having enough containers on hand will make meal times throughout your week a breeze.
MPFIT App: Set Up
You will have received an email with a link to download the MPFIT App onto your phone.
This app is free to you and is the digital hub for all things nutrition and fitness related to your program. Here you will find your macros and healthy habits, manage your Weekly Progress Check-Ins, chart your successes, and communicate with your coach.
Fitness Tracker Integration: If you wear an Apple Watch or FitBit, make sure you have your fitness tracker connected in your MPFIT App. To do this:
Open MPFIT App > press “…” at the bottom right of your screen > scroll down to the CONNECT section > select your fitness tracker > follow prompts to connect
MyFitnessPal App Integration: We use MyFitnessPal (MFP) as our food diary app (more on this below). You’ll need to connect your MFP app to the MPFIT App as well. Note: Make sure your MFP diary is set to public to connect to the MPFIT app.
Open MPFIT App > press “…” at the bottom right of your screen > scroll down to the CONNECT section > select MyFitnessPal > follow prompts to connect
If you don’t have the MFP app yet, read more about it below.
