Happy New Year!

New Year, New Goals! Most of us look at January 1st as a fresh start. It's a chance to wipe the slate clean and set goals for the future. Whatever your 2016 goals are, here are 4 resolutions to make for the best 2016!

1. BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR TODAY AND TOMORROW. The past is the past. No matter how good you had it or if your past is full of struggle, it doesn't matter. It's nobody else's fault if you're not happy where you are in your life right now. It's not your parents' fault. It's not your boss's fault..or your job's...or even your ex's fault...You are where you are today because of decisions you've made.

We cannot change the past but we can live for today and we can decide where we are going tomorrow. Let go of the past. Be accountable for your decisions today and your future. Once you accept full accountability for your life, the future is full of endless possibilities!

2. COMMIT AND GIVE YOUR BEST EFFORT. Forget about "Trying." Commit and DO IT! Trying means you're not sure you can do something but you're going to give a half-hearted attempt. Don't try. Decide what you want and commit to getting there. Whatever it is, no matter how far away the goal seems, we all start somewhere. Remember that. Learning how to do new things or making big changes can suck sometimes because it's hard doing something that we're not good at yet. It can be super humbling and hard on the confidence. But in order to become good at whatever it is, it takes practice. Sometimes, it takes LOTS OF PRACTICE.

3. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH GREAT PEOPLE. There's a theory that we all are the average of the five people that we spend the most amount of time with. Think about that. This includes work, school, home, friends, significant others...Who are the five people you spend the most time with? Are they people that are positively contributing to your development? People that motivate, inspire, and encourage you to be better? If not, it's time to revaluate who you're investing your time with. We all come across people that are draining, negative, time suckers, or just chronically miserable. Whether they're friends from long ago, coworkers, or family, it doesn't matter. If they're not adding value to your life, gracefully remove them from your life and fill your time with people that postively impact your life.

4. LET GO OF ALL THE BULLSHIT. New Years is a great time to clean the slate and start fresh. This includes all of "stuff" that weighs you down. Grudges, anger, thoughts that don't matter, worry...Unload all of this bullshit. Quit letting this stuff fill the precious space in your head. Let it all go. This doesn't mean that you need to let people that chronically walk all over you continue to do so, it means that you let whatever happened go and live your own life in your corner of the universe. If it doesn't serve you, let that shit go.
